Procurement Efficiency and Innovation Taskforce

Public sector budgets for 2010 onwards will be substantially reduced. There has never been a greater need for public service partners to work together to improve outcomes for our citizens while responding urgently to the pressures on public finances. In terms of procurement it is essential that the Welsh public sector maximises the value it obtains from every pound spent with external suppliers and improves the underlying processes involved.

At the Public Services Summit in February the First Minister for Wales announced the creation of the Efficiency and Innovation Programme to provide practical leadership and action to enable public services to improve outcomes for our citizens while responding urgently to the pressure on public finances. The concept is that of the whole public sector working together to provide solutions. At the summit over eighteen organisations committed to helping the Procurement work-stream to deliver.
