Who are we

Welcome to the Website for the new Procurement Service for NHS Wales.

The 1st April 2011, marks the start of the new NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, and the Procurement Service is part of this.

It is made up of a combination of the Procurement functions that were part of each of the Health Boards and Trusts in Wales, and the former Welsh Health Supplies organisation. These are now all brought together under the virtual structure to create the Procurement Service. It also includes the Accounts Payable function, so that the new organisation has responsibility for the whole of the Procure to Pay process.

The new Shared Services organisation will work through a Partnership arrangement with each of the Health Boards and Trusts in Wales and is headed up by Mr. Neil Frow, as the Director of Shared Services.

The historical arrangements will remain in place for the time being, however, a development plan has been drafted which will form the basis of a work programme for the next few years.

The new organisation strengthens the collaborative approach that has been adopted for a number of years and will further support the drive to standard systems, pricing and procedures.

A strategic point of contact will be retained in each of the main Boards and Trusts, and these along with the contacts in the former WHS structure will remain.
